Bon Secours Offers Infant & Child CPR Class

To register or for more information call 757-889-BABY (2229) or visit the Bon Secours Love and Learn site.

CPR is a lifesaving procedure that is performed when an individual’s breathing or heartbeat has stopped, as in cases of drowning, suffocation, choking, or injuries. Time is especially important when dealing with unconscious children and infants who are not breathing. Permanent brain damage begins after only 4 minutes without oxygen and death can occur as soon as 4-6 minutes later.

Because of the special risk infants and small children have of choking on small toys or food, all parents and those who take care of children should learn infant and child CPR if they haven’t already. In order to help educate as many parents and childcare providers as possible, Bon Secours is now offering newly expanded prenatal classes at Mary Immaculate Hospiatl as part of our Love and Learn series. These classes are informational only so no certifications will be given out at the end of the course.
