Women Health: In Your Twenties

Young women in their twenties are still learning about their bodies and setting the foundations for a life of good health. That’s why it’s so important to be physically active, nutritionally aware, and up-to-date on preventive screenings to ensure a happy, healthy, and strong future.

Here are the tests and screenings that women in their twenties should be aware of:

  • Skin
    – Baseline mole and overall skin exam – at least once every three years by a physician
    – Practice monthly self-exam of all moles
  • Heart
    – Baseline cholesterol panel – total, LDL, HDL and triglycerides
    – Blood pressure – at least once every two years
  • Reproductive
    – Annual internal exam with Pap test (including STD screening)
    – Human papillomavirus vaccine (HPV) (up to age 26)
  • Eyes, Ears and Teeth
    – Baseline vision exam
    – Baseline hearing exam
    – Semiannual dental visits for exam and cleaning
  • General
    – Immunizations: Tatnus once every 10 years and Meningococcal vaccine (especially during college)
