The Successful Aging Forum has been a health and wellness staple in Hampton Roads for the past 15 years. “We’ve grown from a 50 person program to hosting over 1,000 participants last year,” said Steve Zollos, the Administrative Director of Healthy Communities for Bon Secours. “The program just seems to get better year after year.”
So what is the formula for the growth and longevity of the forum? The answer lies in the quality of the programming. For example, each year some of the leading physicians of our area are on hand to answer questions from the audience. The questions are insightful and interesting, and the answers are honest and on point.
In addition to the excellent physician panel, the keynote speakers are always interesting and fun. Dr. Oz was incredible last year, as was Pat Boone, Naomi Judd, Anne Jillian, and the late Jack LaLanne, among others. If that’s not enough, consider the literally hundreds of door prizes, outstanding food, and health education. It’s a real formula for success, and this year’s program is no exception.
After years of teaching us the importance of keeping fit, the eccentric fitness guru, Richard Simmons, is coming to Hampton Roads to keep health and fitness in the forefront of your thinking.
Simmons will bring his wild and wacky antics to Hampton Roads on May, 13, 2011, as the keynote speaker for the Successful Aging Forum. “Say what you want about Mr. Simmons, but his antics have kept Americans focused on their health and well-being for years. Sometimes it takes someone who is fun and creative, like Richard Simmons, to keep reminding us that we really are worth the effort it takes to stay healthy,” said Tara Burton, Market Support Specialist with Humana Marketpoint and presenting sponsor for this year’s Successful Aging Forum.
