According to Luxley Daniels, RN, nurse manager at the Bon Secours Health Center at Harbour View emergency department, taking the time to listen to patients is the way to provide exceptional care. Daniels knows first-hand how important listening to patients can be. He found his professional calling eight years ago through personal experience with illness.
“My wife was terminally ill with breast cancer, and I saw the caring way nurses treated her during chemotherapy,” Daniels said. “It inspired me, and I truly enjoy providing one-on-one holistic care to patients.”
As a manager, Daniels looks for people who are naturally compassionate on his staff and help people on a personal level. To him, these are the kind of nurses that set the highest quality standards.
