Ever wonder if you’re kids are eating enough vegetables or too much pasta? Now you can tell. Federal government officials have created MyPlate, a new food icon, to help improve the public’s nutrition.

The goal of MyPlate is to make sure people understand the different types and quantities of food – fruits, grains, vegetables, protein and dairy products – they should be eating in relationship to each other.

One thing missing from the plate: dessert.

That’s why so many choose fruit instead.
