Pool Safety Tips

Most homeowners know basic pool safety rules such as installing 4-foot fencing and using self-latching gates to separate the pool from the house.

But it’s also a good idea to keep rescue equipment – a life preserver and telephone – by the pool within easy reach, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Make sure you remove pool toys from the water so children don’t accidentally fall in while trying to reach something. Children under 5 should be within reach at all times around a pool.

Even if children know how to swim, never leave them unattended. Don’t forget to become CPR certified.
