Antibiotics Trump Cranberries for UTI

Although some women prefer to treat reoccurring urinary tract infections with cranberry extract, a Dutch study suggests antibiotics may be more effective.

Researchers from the Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam found that women who took cranberry had a new infection four months later.

Those who took an antibiotic had one eight months later.

Cranberry extract is believed to stop bacteria from adhering to the walls of the bladder. Antibiotics kill bacteria.
