A new study published in Cancer Causes & Control found that those who rely on sunscreen are actually more likely to suffer bad sunburns. In fact, they had a 23 percent greater risk of multiple sunburns compared to people who rarely use sunscreen.
It could be that people are not applying enough or reapplying as often as needed. Or, maybe they stay too long in the sun because they think their sunscreen is protecting them. Those who wore long sleeves, hats and stayed out of the sun had fewer sunburns.
