Weighty Matters at the Gym

Weight training coupled with aerobic exercise appears to be the most effective weight loss strategy to combat heart disease and diabetes, according to a new study from Louisiana State University’s Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge.

Study participants who did both types of exercise lost slightly more weight and inches than those who solely performed aerobic exercise. However, both groups were able to lower their triglyceride levels.

Those who only did weight-training gained a small amount of weight.
