You can lower your risk by trading red meat for other, healthier proteins such as nuts, beans and low-fat dairy products, according to a study published in the online edition of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

In fact, just eating one hot dog or two slices of bacon every day can give you a 50 percent increased risk of diabetes, researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health found.
