Avoid “Staggered” Overdose

Repeatedly taking a little more acetaminophen than prescribed can lead to overdose, liver failure and death, according to a news release from the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology.

Most people think overdoses happen when someone takes too much medicine in one dose, but a new study shows that “staggered overdoses” can happen when people take a small amount more than they should consistently. Over time, acetaminophen can continually damage the body, researchers wrote.

Always follow dosage guidelines from your doctor for any prescribed or over-the-counter medication.
