Hospice and Palliative Care Month Highlights End-of-Life Care

November is National Hospice and Palliative Care Month. The president declared November National Hospice Month to raise awareness about the compassionate care that hospice specialists provide in local communities.

Bon Secours Hospice is about compassionate care. This ideal has guided us during almost 30 years of helping thousands of patients and their families. Our experience with end-of-life care has shown us that honesty and heartfelt kindness are as important as sound medical care.

Our team provides expert care and pain management to patients who are facing serious, life-limiting conditions. Hospice team members answer questions, offer advice, help address painful symptoms, and empower family members as caregivers. At Bon Secours, our team also provides emotional and spiritual support for a patient and their entire family.

At Bon Secours, hospice is not tied to a place. We serve people in many sites – their homes, hospitals and assisted-living or nursing facilities. We build close relationships based on trust, respect and an appreciation for each individual’s inherent dignity. Hospice care is comprehensive, embracing physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Our team includes physicians, nurses, nurse assistants, social workers, chaplains and volunteers. Hospice is covered by Medicare, Medicaid and by most insurance plans and HMOs.
