In the 20 seconds it takes you to read this paragraph, a child somewhere dies from pneumonia – an infection of the lungs. But many deaths from pneumonia are preventable, according to federal health officials.
Make sure you, your children and other family members have all the recommended vaccinations by consulting with your family physician. Several vaccines prevent infection by bacteria or viruses that can cause pneumonia. The vaccines include: pneumococcal, Hib, whooping cough, chicken pox, measles and flu.
