‘Tis the season to be jolly, but it can be hard to muster the holiday cheer if you’re curled up in bed waging war on the flu. To help ensure you stay healthy into the new year, make sure that you celebrate the season for flu prevention too!
- Get Vaccinated
We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: get a flu shot! Persistent rumors that the flu shot is unsafe have been scientifically proven to be unfounded. The Centers for Disease Control and our primary care experts recommend that adults and children get the recommended vaccination.
- Boost Your Immunity with Supplements
The right nutritional and vitamin supplements can help your body stay healthy and strong through the long, cold winter months. The better shape your body is in the less likely you are to be struck by an illness. Talk to your doctor about incorporating a vitamin D or ginseng supplement into your diet to help ward off cold and flu!
- Wash Your Hands
Germs are all over the place during the last few months of the year. With co-workers sneezing and sniffling all around you, it can feel like you’re doomed – waiting for your turn at the crud. Luckily, taking a few preventative measures like washing your hands frequently and disinfecting communal surfaces can help you escape most of the threatening germs lingering around.
If, despite the best laid plans, you suspect you have the flu, make sure to drink plenty of liquids and rest to give your body a chance to fight it off. We all tend to get run down in December, but that doesn’t mean that you have to solider on through the fog!
