Nasal Irrigation

After two people in Louisiana recently died from a brain-eating amoeba, health officials are reminding people who use neti pots to not use tap water when they wash out their sinuses. Instead, use distilled, sterile or previously boiled water, according to Louisiana State Epidemiologist Raoult Ratard.

“Tap water is safe for drinking, but not for irrigating your nose,” Ratard said in a news release. Also make sure to rinse irrigation devices and dry them thoroughly.
