Binge drinking is not just a problem on college campuses. According to federal health officials, more than 38 million adults in the United States binge drink about four times a month. And when they do, they drink an average of eight alcoholic beverages.
“While binge drinking is more common among young adults ages 18-34, of those age 65 and older who report binge drinking, they do so more often – an average of five to six times a month,” states a news release from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Federal health authorities say people who drink alcohol should practice moderation. For women, that’s no more than one drink per day. For men, it’s two drinks.
