Here’s something to mull over as you enjoy a cup of coffee: a new study suggests it may help prevent type 2 diabetes.

Although more study is needed – the research was conducted with cell cultures – researchers found that three major compounds in coffee may block the formation of abnormal protein deposits found in people with type 2 diabetes, according to the study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry.

Of course, health experts agree the easiest way to prevent diabetes is to maintain a healthy weight, exercise and eat nutritious foods.
