Interested in participating in a liver disease clinical trial? Our Liver Institute of Virginia recruits patients for a variety of liver disease studies every year, including a trial on an investigational drug used in the treatment of primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC).
This PBC clinical trial will be testing a new drug, obeticholic acid (OCA), which mimics the bile acids produced by the body to aid digestion. Researchers hope that OCA will improve liver function in patients struggling with primary biliary cirrhosis.
The Liver Institute of Virginia has offices in Newport News and Richmond, Virginia. Interested patients are encouraged to contact the institute directly to schedule an appointment.
