Breastfeeding Helps Lung Function

Mothers who breastfeed their children can help their babies’ lung function. A large study shows that children who breastfed for at least four months had stronger lungs at age 12 compared to children who did not breastfeed.

Researchers believe breastfeeding has “a direct effect on lung growth.”

The study was published in the American Journal of Respiratory Care and Critical Care Medicine.
