If you need a little incentive to lose weight and start exercising, consider this: weight loss and increased physical fitness nearly halved the risk of losing mobility in overweight or obese adults with type 2 diabetes.

The four-year study, funded by the National Institutes of Health, was published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
