Want to avoid a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes? Switch from eating white rice to whole grains. That’s the advice of researchers who published an international study in the British Medical Journal. After following people in China, Japan, Australia and the United States, the researchers found that the more people ate white rice, the higher their risk for developing type 2 diabetes.
“The authors recommend eating whole grains instead of refined carbohydrates such as white rice, which they hope will slow down the global diabetes epidemic,” according to a news release from the British Medical Journal.
