Eat Broccoli for Breast Health

Wondering what to serve with dinner tonight? Broccoli is always a healthy choice, particularly for breast cancer survivors.

Researchers recommend eating more cruciferous vegetables after they found that Chinese women who were treated for breast cancer had better survival rates when they ate more broccoli.

“Breast cancer survivors can follow the general nutritional guidelines of eating vegetables daily and may consider increasing intake of cruciferous vegetables, such as greens, cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli, as part of a healthy diet,” said Sarah J. Nechuta, a postdoctoral research fellow at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn.

The study’s findings were presented at the annual meeting for the American Association for Cancer Research.
