Finding Support When a Baby Dies

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Virginia’s infant mortality ranks 25th in the nation, with 6.9 deaths per 1,000 live births. As part of continuing efforts to provide good help to our community, a “When a Baby Dies” workshop was hosted at Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Hospital earlier this year to help clinicians better care for parents enduring this tragedy.

More than 80 attended from a variety of disciplines, hearing experts discuss perinatal loss and parents share their personal stories.

Finding Support

If you are struggling with perinatal loss we hold a monthly support group to help those who are dealing with the tragic loss of a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth or newborn death. Our counselor is experienced in helping grieving families through the process of mourning babies who died too soon.

We meet the 2nd Thursday of every month at Mary Immaculate Hospital (in the Heart Center Waiting Room). For more information, please contact Bonnie Eason at (757) 886-6042 or Bonnie_Eason@bshsi.org.
