Want a nice tan to go with the warmer temperatures we’ve enjoyed this spring? You might want to think twice about using the tanning booth or laying out in the sun.
Studies have found a 75 percent increase in the risk of developing melanoma – the deadliest form of skin cancer – from indoor tanning, according to the American Academy of Dermatology. Health officials recommend wearing a broad spectrum sunscreen daily that protects the skin from UVA and UVB rays. It should have a Sun Protection Factor of 30 or greater and be water resistant.
Remember to check the bottle’s expiration date. Expired sunscreen should be replaced.
