Bon Secours Nurse Wins GI Professional of the Year Award

Bon Secours Hampton Roads Health System is proud to announce that Nancy Schlossberg,  BA, BSN, RN, CERN, nurse manager for Bon Secours Health Center at Harbour View’s Endoscopy Center, has won the American Board of Certification for Gastroenterology Nurses (ABCGN) GI Professional of the Year Award.

Ms. Schlossberg, nominated by her peers, was selected for the prestigious award for her qualifications and performance in three areas:


  • Demonstrates clinical competency and leadership in advancing the practice of gastroenterology nursing
  • Impacts positive patient outcomes
  • Is recognized by peers as an inspiration in the practice of gastroenterology nursing
  • Influences the practice through effective communication


  • Participates in educational programming for peers and the public at large
  • Demonstrates commitment to high standards and competence by effective patient teaching
  • Maintains current knowledge of changes in gastroenterology nursing


  • Exercises leadership among colleagues and patients and is recognized as an expert in gastroenterology
  • Seeks to enhance the image of gastroenterology nursing to other health care professionals
  • Supports certification among peers

Ms. Schlossberg is the current Treasurer of Old Dominion regional chapter of the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA) and certified by ABCGN. She says, “This award is very meaningful to me because it recognizes my knowledge of endoscopy nursing, demonstrates my commitment to my profession and my desire to improve the quality of patient care and delivery of services. I was honored to receive this nomination from my peers and am very humbled that I won.”
