FDA Warns of Fake Adderall Pills

Federal health authorities say a counterfeit version of Adderall contains the wrong active ingredients. Adderall is one of the most commonly prescribed medications for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

The counterfeit pills are being sold on the Internet as 30 milligram tablets from Teva Pharmaceutical Industries. The fake pills contain tramadol and acetaminophen, ingredients used to treat acute pain, according to a news release from the FDA.

Health officials are advising consumers to check their pills. The counterfeit Teva Adderall tablets are smooth and plain, white tablets. Authentic Adderall from Teva are round and orange or peach-colored. They are also embossed on one side with “dp” and the number “30” on the other side.
