Almost everyone has back pain at some point. For men between ages 30 and 50 it might start after a weekend workout or while tackling a home project. The pain often gets better within a few days, but these tips can help speed your recovery:
- Take over the counter pain relievers, such as ibuprofen.
- Apply hot or cold compresses, which may reduce inflammation and pain.
- Get moving again. Light exercise strengthens muscles, which speeds recovery. Stop if pain is severe or lasts more than 15 minutes.
Call your doctor if pain lasts beyond 72 hours or comes with weakness in your legs or fever!
