Be prepared for minor injuries and illnesses this season by making sure you have a well-stocked first aid kit in your home and in your car. Here’s what you should include:
- Wound dressings, including elastic wraps, gauze, cloth tape, and adhesive bandages.
- Home health equipment, like a first aid manual, tweezers, a thermometer, sterile cotton balls and swabs, scissors, and disposable instant cold packs.
- Medicines, including antibiotic ointment, aspirin, acetaminophen, sterile eyewash, calamine lotion, and hydrocortisone cream. We also recommend you purchase items for sun recovery like soothing Aloe gels.
If you or a member of your family need a lifesaving medication, for instance an epipen for allergies, an inhaler, or insulin, make sure to always travel with the necessary equipment. And keep a spare handy!
If you have any questions about what other kind of materials you should carry with you – ask your primary care physician.
