Nurse Navigators Help Breast Cancer Patients Through Diagnosis and Treatment

Laurie Jesz, RN, BSN, CBCN, has accepted the position of breast cancer nurse navigator for Bon Secours Hampton Roads Oncology Services. As breast cancer nurse navigator, she will serve as a resource and expert to healthcare providers and patients, providing education and counseling.

Ms. Jesz received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from MedCenter One College of Nursing in Bismarck, N.D. She continued her training at the Officer Indoctrination School in Providence, R.I., earning the rank of Navy Nurse Corps Officer. She received her Breast Health Certification from EduCare Inc., in West Columbia, S.C. In addition, Ms. Jesz has earned designation as a Certified Breast Care Nurse (CBCN) by the Oncology Nurses Society.

Prior to joining Bon Secours, Ms. Jesz served as breast patient nurse navigator at another local hospital in Norfolk, Va.
