Self Control Skills Keep Weight Off

Want to help your child maintain a healthy weight as an adult? Researchers have found that teaching 4-year-olds how to delay gratification, using self-control skills, helps them have a lower body mass index 30 years later.

The study, to be published in The Journal of Pediatrics, also shows that the ability to delay gratification helps children when they’re older in areas such as: academics, social skills and handling stress, according to a press release from Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati.
