49 Employees Lose 715 Pounds in Challenge

Aaron Eppler, the winning coach, congratulates Tracy Manning for being the “Biggest Loser,” along with Wellness Coordinator Amy Cutter.

On Nov. 5, Bon Secours Hampton Roads’ Employee Wellness and In Motion Sports Performance wrapped up their 13-week Team Lean Challenge with 49 participants who lost a total of 715 pounds.

“This pilot program has been a tremendous success. The emails I have received describing the impact that the Team Lean Challenge has had on the participants and their families have brought me tears of joy,” said Amy Cutter, Employee Wellness coordinator.

Congratulations to the winning team, which, on average, lost 9.74 percent of body weight. The team included Dietitian Lauren Barkan and Coach Aaron Eppler, Sports Performance coordinator; Tracy Manning; Susan Lane-Gregor; Kelly Smith; Tiffany Knowles and Sondra Presho. Eppler said the team’s encouragement of one another and “support was really key.”

Employees who lost 10 percent or more of their body weight were: Manning, Knowles, Presho, Julie Schumacher, Cynthia Smith, Kayla Creech, Kimberly Foreman, Tammy Oliver, Rebecca McMahan, Robyn Ruth, Danielle Canfield, Stacey Harris and Melanie Bock.

Participants who lost 10 percent or more of their body weight and met all participation requirements were entered into a drawing for a week-long trip to the Biggest Loser Resort. Manning was our grand prize winner and the contest’s “Biggest Loser,” losing 16.75 percent of her body weight for a total of 33.6 pounds.
