The Bon Secours Virginia Health System’s Nursing Explorers Camp is a fun and educational opportunity for students to learn about the exciting pace of the medical field. This annual camp is designed to encourage the children’s passion for health care. Special guests, experiments and projects allow students a chance to experience life inside the hospital and the determination and dedication necessary to do the job.
The camps bring hands-on learning to children who are interested in health care, with the goal of encouraging them to become a health care professional in the future. Campers participate in activities like:
- Jell-O brain surgery
- suturing pig feet
- dissecting pig hearts
- learning CPR and first aid
- handling actual medical equipment
- performing lab tests
- making casts for stuffed animals
- completing a service project
Applications are open to students who haven’t attended Nursing Explorers Camps in the past. All campers are required to have a TB Test administered by their physician prior to attending camp. Online applications will be accepted April 1–26. Apply online!
