Bon Secours Care-A-Van Program is Hiring in Virginia

Bon Secours Virginia’s Care-A-Van program is a mobile health outreach service providing primary care services to the uninsured and under insured in Richmond and Hampton Roads. Services include routine evaluation and treatment of common acute illnesses. The demand for mobile medical care continues to grow in the Hampton Roads area, and the Bon Secours Care-A-Van needs to expand our services to meet that need.  Such an expansion requires additional staff.

Open positions include:

Care-A-Van Physician

  • Full- or part-time / Hampton Roads
  • Physician on the Care-A-Van to provide preventive, urgent and primary care
  • Requirements: Virginia-licensed (board-certified or board-eligible family physician or internist preferred); experience developing policies, procedures and practices consistent with accepted standards of care and in compliance with OSHA and JCAHO regulations; experience in providing care within a community setting helpful

Care-A-Van Medical Assistant

  • Full-time / Hampton Roads
  • Responsible for patient registration, medical record management, collecting patient information, collecting/labeling/ entering of vital signs and specimens, order entry, assisting physicians with exams, regulating the turn flow of the exam room, registering patients, answering phones/take messages, scheduling appointments, and managing medical records (ICD-9 coding entry into Athena is preferred)
  • Requirements: High school graduate; certificate of completion from an approved medical assistance program; excellent customer service and computer skills

Care-A-Van Driver Supervisor

  • Full-time / Hampton Roads and Richmond
  • Responsible for the selection, purchase, maintenance, repair, licensing and logistics of a fleet of eight Care-A-Van vehicles operating in Hampton Roads and Richmond and valued at $1.3 million dollars. This position hires, trains, supervises, schedules and evaluates drivers, including full-time, part-time and PRN employees.
  • Requirements: High school diploma or general equivalency diploma; CDL; safe driving record — fewer than four points in a six-month period; 10 years’ experience in driving/maintaining vehicles longer than 30 feet; previous experience in supervising and training staff required; experience working with the public

Care-A-Van Driver

  • Full- or part-time / Hampton Roads
  • Prepares and drives Care-A-Van for site visits, provides security, and assists with client registration and data collection. Responsible for maintaining van.
  • Requirements: High school diploma or general equivalency diploma; CDL; safe driving record — fewer than four points in a six month period; two years’ experience in driving vehicles longer than 30 feet; basic security training; typing skills for data entry preferred; previous experience in training staff preferred; previous experience in working with the public
