Free Training for Foster and Adopting Parents in Portsmouth

Have you been thinking about becoming a foster or adoptive parent? Adding another child to your home is a huge decision. As a foster or adoptive parent, you will share your home, time, energy and love with youth of all ages in need of care and stability.

The nurturing presence and secure home environment that you provide during this time can make a life-changing difference to a child.

Join Bon Secours Family Focus and Lutheran Family Services for foster/adopt care training.

Our training will start on Thursday, April 13 and end on Monday, April 29. Our schedule is as follows:

  • Thursday, April 11, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m.
    Orientation
  • Saturday, April 13, 2013, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
    Sessions 1 and 2: Understanding You and It Takes Teamwork
  • Thursday, April 18, 2013, from 6 to 9 p.m.
    Sessions 3 and 4: Profile of a Foster/Adopt Child, Foster/Adopt: Parent Responsibilities and Treatment Foster/Adopt Care — Part I
  • Monday, April 22, 2013, from 6 to 9 p.m.
    Sessions 5 and 6/Graduation: Treatment Foster/Adopt Care — Part II and Treatment Foster/Adopt Care — Part III
  • Monday, April 29, 2013, from 6 to 9 p.m.
    CPR/CPI: CPR and First Aid Certification: Adult, Infant & Child and CPI Crisis Intervention Training (required for certification)

Classes are offered at NO COST to you., but registration is required to attend.

Classes will be held at Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center 3636 High Street in Portsmouth Va.
