Bon Secours Celebrates American Heart Month with Good for Your Heart Event in Newport News

As part of American Heart Month, Bon Secours will offer a free Good for Your Heart health screening event at the Health Education Center at Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Hospital, 2 Bernardine Drive, Newport News on February 19 from 4 pm to 7 pm.

The Good for Your Heart event is more than a traditional screening event. It features screenings, CPR demonstrations and a mini lecture, all geared at helping community participants have the information they need to take charge of their heart health.

Participants will receive free blood pressure, cholesterol, body mass index and blood glucose screenings. In addition, they will have the chance to speak with a lifestyle coach, take a heart disease risk assessment and sign up for monthly heart health e-newsletters.

CPR-certified staff will be on hand to demonstrate the latest CPR techniques. Each family will be able to take home a free CPR Anytime kit (valued at $34.95) so they can practice at home and teach others how to perform this lifesaving technique.

At 6 pm, Dr. Robert Lancey of Cardiovascular & Thoracic Specialists will speak on Signs & Symptoms of Heart Disease.

Heart healthy refreshments and giveaways will also be given to participants.
